Seer of Silverburn

I don't know the identity of the chap from Pollok whom I've dubbed the 'Seer of Silverburn', but if anyone does please put him in touch with me as I'd like to ask his opinion on a number of topical issues.

I would dearly love to know what he thinks about the behaviour and performance of the highly paid officials who have been running Glasgow City Council for the past 10 years.

For example, what does my fellow Glaswegian have to say about:
  • The instruction from senior officials that Cordia staff must turn up for work in schools and nurseries even though Glasgow City Council had already decided that these would be closed - on safety grounds.
  • The scandal of low paid women workers in Glasgow being denied their right to 'equal pay for work of equal value' for all these years
  • The creation of Glasgow's ALEOs in an effort by the City Council to escape its equal pay obligations
  • The mystery and lack of official records surrounding the procurement of the Glasgow City Council's WPBR pay scheme
  • The ongoing defence of the WPBR by GCC's senior officials despite the scheme being condemned as 'unfit for purpose' by Scotland's highest civil court
  • The fact that all  of GCC's senior officials remain in post after making such a dog's dinner of equal pay for the past 13 years
Now I would be delighted to meet up with the 'Seer' to discuss these burning issues, perhaps over a beer and a couple of packets of Space Raiders.

Glasgow - Needs New Blood (04/03/18)

Hands up, who agrees that this enterprising chap from Pollok should be immediately co-opted on to Glasgow City Council's senior management team (SMT)?

Now, as regular readers know, I've been pretty critical of the current crop of senior officials for digging Scotland's largest council into a great big hole over equal pay - then trying to wash their hands of the whole affair as if somehow 'a big boy did it and ran away'.

What's needed, if you ask me, is a bit of humility on the part of these highly paid council bosses who 'defended the indefensible' for years and who, more recently, instructed support staff to turn up for work in Glasgow schools which the council had already decided to close, due to the whiteout weather conditions.

Clearly the top brass at the City Chambers needs a big shake-up.

And who better than someone who sees the world as it really is, who takes responsibility and acts decisively - by rushing out to stock up on Mortons Rolls, Irn Bru and Space Raiders - instead of sitting in a cosy office blaming everyone else for what's gone wrong.

After all, Glasgow City Council is Scotland's largest, best resourced, most 'professional' council, by far - but you would never know it, would you?
