Labour Baloney

 Jeremy Corbyn is heading into his 36th year as a Labour MP since he was first elected in 1983 so you'd think he'd have a pretty good idea about what goes on in and around the Palace of Westminster.

 But in a softball interview with Grazia magazine Jezza says he was shocked by the recent allegations of sexual harassment before adding: 

“I’m horrified and appalled by it all. I think sexism is a real challenge in society that needs to be dealt with. The allegations are all investigated and dealt with as appropriate. We support the people making them as well as the people being alleged against.”

Now I could understand Labour policy if this was all about creating conditions for victims of harassment to come forward and be taken seriously while investigating claims properly to ensure that 'justice' is done.  

But all this stuff about 'supporting people making allegations as well as those against whom allegations are made' is just a load of old baloney, if you ask me.

Because the evidential test up till now has relied upon a third party witness which is very difficult to achieve in cases of bullying and harassment.

Whereas the test under civil law is based on the 'balance probabilities' which is used in most employment and disciplinary settings.

SNP - Conspiracy of Silence

So here's the issue - two Glasgow MSPs (Nicola Sturgeon and Humza Yousaf) have been asked a reasonable question about their use of public money to employ two SNP councillors who already have full-time, salaried jobs as senior elected members of Glasgow City Council.   But these two public servants (both long-serving ministers) refuse to answer, so what to do next? One regular reader suggests raising the matter on the floor of the Scottish Parliament which is a good idea, but requires an MSP who's prepared to put down a written question for Scottish Ministers to answer. So here's a list of activities which will help shine a light on what has been going on because as Lord Nolan once said apropos driving up standards in public life - 'daylight is the best disinfectant'.
