Trust in Trump

James Comey better hope that there are no "tapes" of our conversations before he starts leaking to the press!

The stock in Donald Trump's fell even further yesterday as the President tweeted some very carefully chosen words in which he denied having a recording of a highly sensitive, private conversation with the former FBI director James Comey.

James Comey stated under oath that the President asked the FBI director to 'let go' an active investigation that was probing controversial links between Russia and Trump's national security adviser, General Mike Flynn.

Flynn was subsequently forced to resign and is still under active investigation to this day and many people (including the former FBI director) thought it extremely odd that the President should use his office by trying to take the heat off one of his own team.

Trump went even further, of course, by subsequently sacking James Comey and then issuing another wild tweet warning the by now former FBI director to be careful about leaking their conversations to the press, implying that he (Trump) had a recording of what had been said.

Crazy and terribly unprofessional maybe, but that's par for the course in the White House these days - Trump's presidency all the subtlety and sense of strategy of a bull in china shop.

Now Trump denies having any recordings though his words are very precise in that he says "I did not make, and do not have, any such recordings" which of course leaves open the very distinct possibility that some else did so on his behalf.
