Glasgow Live

I came across a post from the Glasgow Live website featuring 10 songs inspired by Glasgow including numbers from Billy Connolly, Franz Ferdinand, Aztec Camera and Abba.

Now my equal pay music competition is about Glasgow City Council, but this doesn't mean that the winning song has to mention Glasgow by name, since the intention is to 'nail' the way the City Council has behaved in relation to equal pay.

So the Glasgow Live article might give people some food for thought and you can read this via the link below.

You can question a lot of things about Glasgow - but throw shade on the city's music scene and you're asking for trouble.

From shipyard laments to fey indie tunes, Glasgow has inspired so many artists over the years - and its thriving live music scene proves we're still turning out great artists of the future.

But what about the dear, green place appearing in the songs themselves?

Well, you'd be surprised by how many times a reference to the dear, green place crops up as a pop lyric.

Here are just some of the tunes we'd add to a playlist if you're feeling particularly homesick - some obvious and some you might not know.

Did we miss any? Tell us your favourite Glasgow tune on Facebook and Twitter and we might add them to our playlist.
