Lanarkshire Update



DM Legal Claims is a Lanarkshire based company which has a mission to help working people in that part of the world gain better access to the legal system through a 'No Win, No Fee ' business model.

The firm is headed up by Donna Marie Gray and Alison Martin, two young women with legal training who live in the local area and have a good feel for what's going on.

I met Donna and Alison recently in connection with the ongoing equal pay battles in North Lanarkshire Council and South Lanarkshire Council. 

While I've no direct interest in DM Legal Claims (commercial or otherwise) I've been happy to lend support and help them out from time to time.

Because I think they're doing a  great and much needed job, especially when so many local people have been let down by their trade unions over equal pay.

I understand that DM Legal Claims is considering legal action against the trade unions in South Lanarkshire for advising their members not to pursue equal pay claims against the local Labour-run Council.

Likewise in North Lanarkshire where there are a whole host of problems including the scandalous situation where GMB members are fighting their own union as well as the Labour-run Council over their rights to equal pay.

SNP - Conspiracy of Silence

So here's the issue - two Glasgow MSPs (Nicola Sturgeon and Humza Yousaf) have been asked a reasonable question about their use of public money to employ two SNP councillors who already have full-time, salaried jobs as senior elected members of Glasgow City Council.   But these two public servants (both long-serving ministers) refuse to answer, so what to do next? One regular reader suggests raising the matter on the floor of the Scottish Parliament which is a good idea, but requires an MSP who's prepared to put down a written question for Scottish Ministers to answer.
