Wandsworth Prison

Wandsworth Prison
I had to laugh at Alex Salmond's mocking comments about Labour's pledge to introduce a new law to guarantee that television debates must take place in the run-up to future general elections.

Ed Miliband claimed that his new law would ensure 'once and for all, that these debates belong to the people', but he was roundly ridiculed by the former SNP leader with Alex Salmond asking whether David Cameron would be thrown into Wandsworth prison for refusing to take part.

Salmond poured scorn on the idea via BBC Radio 4 with the acute observation:

‘Could you actually pass a law which says that somebody has to turn up at a TV debate?

‘What do you do when David Cameron doesn’t turn up? Shall we stick him in the clink, do we put him in Wandsworth?’

I don't think so either, so it's back to the drawing board for Ed &Co but what a daft thing to say in the first place.
