North Lanarkshire Update



North Lanarkshire Council is making noises apparently about being unable to sign-off the equal pay MOU (Memorandum of Understanding) tomorrow; some nonsense about the politicians being unavailable has been trundled out as an excuse.

 Now I can't imagine a bigger insult to the thousands of low paid council workers who have been messed around and badly treated for years over the local pay arrangements in North Lanarkshire - arrangements which have been shown to be discriminatory, of course.

 Just what is it that these councillors are up to that they can't attend a meeting that's been on the cards for days if not weeks? 

 Especially when the subject is of such vital important to thousands of NLC employees who have been waiting for years for these issues to be resolved.

So I think it's fair to say that this latest turn of events makes the leadership of North Lanarkshire look completely ridiculous, in fact the words piss up and brewery come to mind.

 And if you ask me, this Labour-run Council owes its long-suffering workforce a huge apology over this latest delay.

SNP - Conspiracy of Silence

So here's the issue - two Glasgow MSPs (Nicola Sturgeon and Humza Yousaf) have been asked a reasonable question about their use of public money to employ two SNP councillors who already have full-time, salaried jobs as senior elected members of Glasgow City Council.   But these two public servants (both long-serving ministers) refuse to answer, so what to do next? One regular reader suggests raising the matter on the floor of the Scottish Parliament which is a good idea, but requires an MSP who's prepared to put down a written question for Scottish Ministers to answer.
