D-Day for Equal Pay



Today is another big day for equal pay in North Lanarkshire.

 Because by the end of today the Council is supposed to have signed off on a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) setting out the terms of an agreement with all the parties to resolve  the ongoing dispute over equal pay.

 But as with any major negotiation until all the i's are dotted and all the t's are crossed there is no agreement that can be relied upon going forward and, for the moment, the ball is once again back in North Lanarkshire's court. 

 So let's hope there no more foot-dragging or backsliding behaviour on the part of the Council because until everything is signed, sealed and delivered - the option of going back to the Employment Tribunal remains very much on the table.

SNP - Conspiracy of Silence

So here's the issue - two Glasgow MSPs (Nicola Sturgeon and Humza Yousaf) have been asked a reasonable question about their use of public money to employ two SNP councillors who already have full-time, salaried jobs as senior elected members of Glasgow City Council.   But these two public servants (both long-serving ministers) refuse to answer, so what to do next? One regular reader suggests raising the matter on the floor of the Scottish Parliament which is a good idea, but requires an MSP who's prepared to put down a written question for Scottish Ministers to answer.
