NLC Update (17/01/15)

Here's some encouraging news for equal pay claimants in North Lanarkshire!

Yesterday's settlement talks with North Lanarkshire Council, which went right down to the wire of course, made significant progress and the result is that the Employment Tribunal scheduled for next week will now be postponed.

Not every detail has been completely nailed down as yet and there is still the possibility that things could 'crash and burn'.

If this were to happen for any reason, then as far as A4ES is concerned we will be heading straight back to the Employment Tribunal which is an important safety net in case anything does go wrong.

I will have more to say in the days ahead and a more detailed explanation will follow, in due course, so for the moment all claimants need to do is to sight tight and await developments.

In the meantime this is clearly a big breakthrough, one which arrived rather late in the day, but is still welcome nonetheless because the object of the exercise has always been to achieve a fair and just settlement of people's equal pay claims.
