Boycott Qatar



So let me get this right.

 One of the major backers of the IS, formerly known as ISIS, a band of religious fascists who have been gleefully murdering fellow Muslims and non-Mulims in Syria and Iraq, kidnapping women as slaves and burying people alive - are to be the hosts of the World Cup in 2022.

 Now something is wrong somewhere that this terrible state of affairs can be real or allowed to stand, even if the World Cup business is now widely regarded as a ghastly mistake, the result of bribery and corruption within the world football governing body, FIFA.

 Anyway, who cares about football - what I care about is that Qatar is being allowed to masquerade as a civilised, 21st century nation when it is sponsoring barbarity on a medieval scale - the cold blooded torture and murder of completely innocent people for no reason other than their ethnic and religious background.

 While I haven't noticed any big marches or demonstrations against these despicable events, I would like to be the first to say - never mind moving the 2022 World Cup to the winter months because the civilised countries of the world should be uniting to say that they are going to boycott the competition in Qatar altogether.

SNP - Conspiracy of Silence

So here's the issue - two Glasgow MSPs (Nicola Sturgeon and Humza Yousaf) have been asked a reasonable question about their use of public money to employ two SNP councillors who already have full-time, salaried jobs as senior elected members of Glasgow City Council.   But these two public servants (both long-serving ministers) refuse to answer, so what to do next? One regular reader suggests raising the matter on the floor of the Scottish Parliament which is a good idea, but requires an MSP who's prepared to put down a written question for Scottish Ministers to answer.
