Good Idea!

I've always like Jamie Oliver because he was the first TV chef who helped me to develop my children's interest in food and cooking - his early programmes were always lively and full of fun being based around his social life: having his friends round for dinner, celebrating his girlfriend's birthday or taking his nieces and nephews to the beach for the day.

So I was pleased to read that Jamie is involved in an ambitious online cookery project which aims to teach 1 million children how to cook 10 tasty dishes by the time they're 16.

Now what a good idea, not only will it give young people practical life skills learning how to cook well is also likely to make young people more self-sufficient, save them lost of money in the years ahead and turn them into healthier adults.

The online campaign will include a “basic pasta dish with a quick tomato sauce”, a Sunday roast, a curry or chilli, fresh fish, basic pizza dough and porridge.

Now if you ask me, that's a good bit of social engineering without all the dreary politics normally associated with such events.
