No Mean Feat

Celtic beat Barcelona 2-1 in Glasgow last night in a thrilling match in which the Catalan champions dominated open play as expected - yet they couldn't put the ball in the net until the closing seconds of the game.

But by that time Celtic were two up having scored two fine goals - one in each half - from the impressive midfielder, Victor Wanyama, and teenage striker, Tony Watt - the latter strike giving Celtic a cushion which proved vital before the ninety minutes were up.

Were Celtic lucky?

No, they just played to their strengths against what is for most people the best footballing team in the world - and took their chances when they came along.

Barcelona were the better all-round team for sure, but Celtic defended stoutly - with great skill and courage - without ever resorting to strong arm tactics.

In fact there were only 9 free kicks or fouls awarded to both sides during the entire match - which shows the spirit the in which game was played.

Barcelona were somewhat bitter in defeat which is no bad thing - great players and teams hate losing because that's what makes them champions.

So Let's see if the adventure can continue in the next stages of the Champions League - Celtic have two games still to play (against Spartak Moscow at home and Benfica away) and must now have a great chance of proceeding to the next round of the competition.

No mean feat - in No Mean City.
