South Lanarkshire
Another supportive letter on the fight for equal pay in South Lanarkshire - has appeared in the local press this week - in the Hamilton Advertiser.
A regular reader has sent me the following text:
NOT WELL PAID
"I am writing regarding recent articles and letters in the Advertiser on equal pay at South Lanarkshire Council.
Glasgow and North Lanarkshire councils have admitted the error of their ways and paid out.
As for the 2009 survey allegedly around 6000 employees replied 88% of whom said they were proud to work for SLC.
The rest of us did not fill in a survey as we are by contract not permitted to run our employer down.
I would say that was about right.
Of these 6000 employees who replied 88% are proud and well paid.
The rest of us approximately 10,000 people - are not."

Yes indeed - good point and well made.
I'm sure a 'ban' on saying critical things about your employer had a big influence on how many employees responded to the council survey - and what they were prepared to say.
