Loo of the Year
Glasgow City Council was getting pelters in the press the other day - for spending £80,000 on celebrating awards - such as 'Loo of the Year'.
Apparently councils are spending £1.2 million every year - on these kind of events.
Now £80,000 is a drop in the ocean - compared to Glasgow's overall budget of around £2.5 billion.
But it does tell you something about council priorities - and I imagine there are plenty of other examples luring oin the undergrowth somewhere.
A spokesperson for the city council said:
"Awards ceremonies help to recognise and share good practice in the public sector, and they present excellent opportunities to heighten the city's profile.
I'm sure they do - but that doesn't explain why they need to cost council taxpayers £80,000 a year.
