Jumping on Landmines
The row over discipline on and off the football field continues.
As the Scottish Football Association gives the impression that the best way to test if a landmine is working - is to jump on it with both feet.
Now as anyone who has ever been involved in dealing with difficult disciplinary cases would tell you - if they were being honest at least - outcomes can vary significantly, depending on the individual facts and circumstances of the case.
Even when two cases look the same - or very similar - there can be good reasons for the outcomes being different.
But that's the crucial word: reasons.
Any disciplinary body acting in the public eye should publish clear reasons for its decisions - so that there is public confidence in what they decide - and how they come to their decisions.
Transparency and consistency is not a lot to ask in the scheme of things - then we can all move on to more important things.
